Los Angeles: 10 Days to Mexico

Time flies!

We left Yosemite on 10/10 and drove all day to Los Angeles. Per usual, I just slept in the back while Kayla and Andrew binge-listened to Generation Why. I think I know more about serial killers than the average human. So scary!

But hey, it keeps them awake while they’re driving.

We haven’t done much since leaving Yosemite, really. Since Kayla and Andrew took time off to explore Yosemite, they’ve been working almost nonstop.

I guess there’s a lot to do on their tippy-tappy laptops.

On the plus side, Kayla bought me a bunch of tasty dehydrated cow tendons thanks to her tippy-tappy laptop money. Yum!

Los Angeles Coffee Shops Rock

Our AirBnb here in LA is cozy. We’ve got our own room and share a kitchen with several other AirBnb guests, but we all pretty much keep to ourselves.

We’re just a few blocks from this gorgeous, hilly running trail. Kayla and I have gone out almost every day. It seems like everyone else on the trail can’t read the “No Off-Leash Dogs” signs, but Kayla (mostly) kept me on leash.

They spent all day on 10/11 and 10/12 working. Because they just rented a room and I might bark when locked in there, I got to come to work all week!

The coffee shop they’ve been going to, The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf, is amazing for me. The outdoor seating area has plenty of shade, which is an absolute must here in LA. Kayla hasn’t even been using her Philbert SunShade!

Even better for the humans, this coffee shop has outdoor plugs. The tippy-tappy laptops can’t survive all day on just battery, so if they want to sit outside with me, they need extra power. Not many coffee shops have this feature!

I’m really having a BLAST in my Fenzi Dog Sports Academy class – nosework games. Kayla and I are turning into a fox-scent-hunting superstar team.

Last night (10/16), the humans went out to meet up with Emily, one of Andrew’s cousins. She’s living in LA right now and working towards getting into show business of some sort. She and her boyfriend are so friendly! The humans ate sushi, but I really won out. Emily played fetch with me with the frisbee. WAAAY better than sushi, am I right?

What’s Up Next?

We checked out of our AirBnb today and are hanging in downtown LA for now. Kayla says they’re going to leave me with a dog sitter. They are getting on an airplane tonight to fly to Minneapolis.

Kayla’s good friend Maggie is getting married, and Kayla is going to see her dad for his birthday. I’m pretty bummed I can’t come too, but I guess dogs aren’t welcome on airplanes for the most part.

The good news is that I heard my dogsitter likes the dog beach.

I LOVE the dog beach.

So I guess it’ll be ok.

They come back next Tuesday (10/23) and then we head to San Diego. I’m running my race for charity on 10/27 (you can donate to the rescue here). The following Monday (10/29) we drive to Mexico.

I think I have to go to the vet before then. Boo. BUT I’m going to start eating homecooked meals when we cross the border, so I’m looking forward to that.

Ta-ta for now.

Barley is a four year old border collie who absolutely loves fetch. His zest for life keeps Kayla and Andrew on their toes. He’s also really, really, ridiculously good looking.
